Celebrating 80 Years of Excellence: The Legacy of Lamers Bus Lines

In 2024, Lamers Bus Lines celebrates its 80th anniversary, marking eight decades of dedicated service, growth, and a commitment to excellence in transportation. Founded in 1944, this family-owned company has become a pillar of reliability and innovation in the bus industry. As we commemorate this remarkable milestone, we reflect on the rich history, achievements, and values that have driven Lamers Bus Lines to its esteemed position today.

Humble Beginnings
Lamers Bus Lines was founded in 1944 by Wisconsin farmers Lyle and Ellen Lamers. Initially, the company started with a single bus and served the Grant School District and Nicolet High School. The Lamers’ vision was simple yet profound: to provide safe, reliable, and efficient transportation services to the community. This foundational principle has remained at the core of Lamers Bus Lines’ operations throughout its journey. In 1950, the company continued to grow when Lamers began providing transportation for the Ashwaubenon School District. By 1960, Lamers became a transportation provider for the Green Bay Area School District.

Growth and Expansion
From its modest beginnings, Lamers Bus Lines has experienced significant growth and expansion. In the 1960’s, Lamers purchased a used Greyhound PD 3751 and began offering motor coach services. The company steadily increased its fleet and diversified its services to include charter services, intercity routes, and contract services. Today, Lamers Bus Lines operates a fleet of over 1,500 vehicles, including motor coaches, school buses, and luxury tour buses, serving a wide range of transportation needs across Wisconsin, the Midwest, and beyond.

Community Engagement
Beyond its commercial success, Lamers Bus Lines has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to the communities it serves. The company actively supports local schools, charities, area businesses, and community events. Dean Brown, the General Manager of Lamers Bus Lines’ Milwaukee terminal, has been involved in numerous local organizations for nearly two decades. He attended some of the first meetings of the Airport Gateway Business Association when it was founded in 2005. Around the same time, he became the Treasurer for the Garden District Neighborhood Association. Currently, Dean serves on the Airport Gateway Business Association’s Security Committee, working to ensure the district is a safe place to do business and raise a family.

As Lamers Bus Lines celebrates its 80th anniversary, the company looks to the future with optimism and a renewed commitment to excellence. The vision for the coming decades includes expanding service areas, integrating cutting-edge technologies, and continuing to prioritize sustainability. Lamers aims to remain a leader in the transportation industry, setting benchmarks for safety, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
