US Special Delivery Celebrates 40 Years!

US Special Delivery is a logistics service provider whose primary focus is on overnight delivery to direct points in their Midwest (Michigan, Minnesota, Ontario, and Wisconsin) markets. They have been a member of the Gateway since 2009, and Jan Krivanek, a Territory Manager at the Milwaukee terminal, has been serving on our Board of Directors for 2 years.

This year, US Special Delivery is celebrating their 40th Anniversary! The company was started in 1975 with one truck and one driver, and has expanded and developed over the past 4 decades. They operated under the name, Smeester Contracting until the early 1980’s, delivering air freight and mine shipments, and eventually changed their name to US Special Delivery in 2008 to better reflect the company’s capabilities and the areas that they service.

US Special Delivery is hosting a number of employee appreciation events, across the country in celebration of their 40th Anniversary. On September 12, they hosted a pig roast for the Iron Mountain terminal and home office employees and their families. Past employees from generations ago were in attendance to help celebrate a “Roast & Toast” honoring Patrick Quick’s retirement. Pat Quick, the first driver hired by US Special Delivery, was honored for his 39 years of service, and received an award for 35 years of safe driving.

The Milwaukee terminal celebrated their employee appreciation on September 16 with food from Ashley’s in MKE, as well as homemade sides from the employees. Bob Krueger, received a plaque for 15 years accident free, as well as two tickets to the Green Bay Packers vs. San Diego Chargers game for his accomplishment.

It is apparent that safety, quality customer service and employee engagement are the driving forces behind the success of US Special Delivery! Congrats on 40 years!
