Resources for Local Business Owners

There are a wide variety of tools and resources available to business owners in the City of Milwaukee; from workshops to grants to online applications, the opportunities for assistance are endless. Here is a snapshot of a few successful and some newly released programs in the Milwaukee area, that many of our BID members have already taken advantage of.

Department of City Development
Facade Grants
Grants are reimbursements of 50% of eligible costs, up to $5,000 per storefront
Project budget must exceed $2,000
Windows, doors, awnings, landscaping, fencing, signage, etc.
No reimbursement for expenses or work completed prior to approval

Signage Grants
Project budget must exceed $2,000
Typical grants up to $2,500
Internally illuminated box signs, not eligible

StartSmart Application
Tells entrepreneurs what City & State permits & licenses are needed to open a business in Milwaukee
