Since 2007, UEDA has been working collaboratively with a group of professionals, organizations and government entities representing the housing sector to address the many issues affecting homeowners and neighborhoods as a result of the current financial crisis. In September 2008, UEDA participated in the Milwaukee Foreclosure Partnership Initiative, by chairing the Prevention work group and developing a set of recommendations to help mitigate the future impact of foreclosures.

Current approaches and initiatives underway to address the crisis include consumer & homeowner outreach and education, promoting the work of nonprofit housing counseling agencies and working with lenders and financial institutions.
